Hockey Shinguards

Shin Guards: Shin guards protect the shins from knocks with the opponent's stick, body parts, and the field hockey ball. Shin guards are not mandatory for play, but are highly recommended, and widely used by field hockey players.

Are hockey and soccer shin guards different?

1. Field Hockey Shin guards are thicker with more padding due to the smaller size of the ball. 2. Soccer/football shin guards are lighter and made from lighter plastic.

The larger the shin guard size, the longer and wider they are to accommodate larger leg diameters. Shin guards should fit from just above the bend of your ankle when you flex your foot to a couple of inches below the knee.
