Referee Card

The referee shows a yellow card to indicate a player, or a team official has been officially cautioned. The referee notes the offender's details, time, and the nature of the foul committed in a small notebook which is also called a booking.

Penalty cards are most commonly used by referees or umpires to indicate that a player has committed an offence. The official will hold the card above their head while looking or pointing towards the player that has committed the offence.

How many cards does a referee have?

If you're familiar with football, you'll be aware that referees traditionally have two cards in their arsenal: a yellow one (used for cautions) and a red one (used for permanently suspending a player from the game)
